'Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective' with Wendy Garcia
26 November 2018
Driving diversity
This is a unique opportunity to hear from Wendy on why and how asset owners are bringing diversity criteria into the due diligence process for awarding investment mandates, and what they expect from their asset managers when it comes to diversity.
We interviewed Wendy for our groundbreaking 2017 research, Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective . We found her so inspiring that we invited her to London to speak to New Financial members.
The Comptroller’s office oversees the five New York City public pension funds, worth a total of $200bn, and allocates a growing portion of assets to minority and women-owned investment managers. Since 2014, this allocation has increased by over 40%. New York’s is also the first US public pension system to ask prospective fund managers due diligence questions about the diversity (including race and gender) of their investment decision-makers and the strength of their diversity policies.
Wendy is fiercely passionate about the importance of diversity to everyday business, economic development and wider society, and has a broad view of the diversity agenda from her role working with suppliers to New York City.
