Designing savings and investments accounts in the EU
19 June 2025
EU & UK capital markets

This will be a virtual event on ‘Designing savings and investments accounts in the EU’ to present our report that analyses different examples of successful (and unsuccessful) savings and investments accounts and tax wrappers in Europe and around the world and discusses what the EU and member states can learn from them.
Confirmed speakers at the event include:
Andrea Beltramello – head of CMU at the European Commission’s DG FISMA
Victoria Kelly – chief of staff and head of public policy at Fidelity International
Johanna Lybeck Lilja – state secretary at the Swedish finance ministry
With more speakers to be announced soon.
We expect participants to be a combination of government officials and policymakers from across Europe, and senior executives and policy specialists from across the financial services industry.
The European Commission will later this year make recommendations on the introduction of savings and investments accounts in EU member states as part of the EU’s savings and investments union (SIU) initiative.
In our report, produced in partnership with Fidelity International, we analyse 15 investment accounts in Europe and around the world; plot their growth and penetration; and outline the potential impact on investment in the EU if variations of these models were adopted across the EU.
The event will discuss our findings, learnings from best practice, and the role this plays in the debate on the future of investment and the capital markets in Europe.
