Discussion with Dr Florian Toncar, German Federal Ministry of Finance

27 October 2022

EU capital markets

The starting point for the discussion with guest speaker Dr Florian Toncar, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Finance will be the Aktienrente (or ‘share pension’). The important proposed reforms to the German pensions system. No doubt we will also discuss the German perspective on CMU, sustainable finance, and German and EU capital markets post-Brexit.

We expect participants at the roundtable event to be a combination of policy specialists, senior executives with a focus on the German market, as well as some government officials and policymakers.

About Florian Toncar:

Florian has been the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance (effectively co-deputy finance minister) since November last year and has been a member of the Bundestag for the liberal Free Democratic Party for more than 15 years. He has specific responsibility at the BMF for financial markets, and international and European policy.

He first became a member of the Bundestag in 2005 (at the age of just 25). Between his two terms in parliament, Florian worked in Frankfurt at Freshfields. He returned to the Bundestag in 2017 where he was a member of the Bundestag Finance Committee, served as the FDP’s spokesman on financial policy, and was involved in the parliamentary inquiry into the Wirecard scandal.
