How (not) to talk about banking and finance – PR & comms breakfast
14 February 2018
Rebuilding trust
If you think that the lack of trust in the banking and finance industry among regulators, policymakers and the wider public will blow over anytime soon then you haven't been paying attention.
Recent evidence – from Jeremy Corbyn’s warning that he’s a threat to the ‘gamblers and speculators’ in the City, to the Brexit debate around the value of financial services to the UK economy, or ‘The City’ being synonymous with The President’s Club in the media – suggest that the industry has a long way to go in rebuilding trust and making the case for value of what it does.
This breakfast for senior PR & comms professionals will help shape our work in this area over the coming year, including:
* Why is it important that the industry talks about itself in the right way?
<strong style="color: #0084ba;">* How does the industry / different sectors talk about what they do? Is this approach working?
<strong style="color: #0084ba;">* Do politicians and the public understand what ‘the City’ does and how it affects their daily lives?
<strong style="color: #0084ba;">* What conclusions would people draw from looking at firms’ Twitter feeds, annual reports and websites?
<strong style="color: #0084ba;">* What are the key messages to avoid? What are the difficult questions that need to be addressed?
<strong style="color: #0084ba;">* What messages work with different audiences?
