The interconnectedness of UK and EU banking and capital markets
3 July 2025
EU & UK capital markets

Despite all the noise in recent years, the UK and the EU are relatively similar markets facing largely similar challenges of investment and growth. The ‘reset’ in the relationship between the two economies is welcome. Banking, finance, and the capital markets have so far not been a substantial part of talks. But the interconnectedness of UK and EU capital markets is a fact of life, and there are areas where the two could work more closely together to address common challenges.
The discussion will include:
The similar challenges facing UK and EU, and how capital markets can help address them
Specific recommendations and ideas to foster a closer relationship
How the industry on both sides of the channel can make a better case for closer cooperation
We expect participants to be policy and regulation specialists with an interest in both UK and EU markets.
