Driving diversity

The D&I function has an important role to play in the roll out of AI to reduce risk and maximise opportunity

This briefing paper offers a checklist for diversity and inclusion teams to help their organisations rise to the challenge of AI and reap its full benefits.

New Financial relies on support from the industry to fund its work. Our reports are available to New Financial member firms, government and regulators, and the media. If you would like to enquire about membership or receiving a copy of the report, please click here

Based on what we have read and observed, as well as discussions we have had with members and key industry stakeholders, many D&I leads are (understandably) struggling to keep up with the pace of AI. Yet the D&I function can make a valuable contribution to the roll out of AI to reduce risk and maximise the opportunity of inclusive AI.

In this (brief) briefing paper, we offer a checklist of questions for D&I teams to be asking of themselves and colleagues to help their organisations rise to the challenge of AI and reap its full benefits. Change at this pace and with so many unknowns is always hard and, quite frankly, frightening. We hope this paper helps you to feel the fear and do it anyway.

Earlier this month, we hosted a fascinating and timely discussion on AI and disruptive tech with guest speakers Claire Tunley, CEO of the Financial Services Skills Commission, which is conducting research on this topic, and Birgit Neu, Senior Adviser to New Financial, who brought a D&I lens to the discussion. Birgit has also authored this briefing paper. AI is a topic that we will certainly be coming back to in our future programme. If you would like to discuss any of these areas we touch on in this paper, or learn more about New Financial’s programme, please do get in touch at: info@newfinancial.org
