Our impact

The impact of our work has ranged from presenting our research on capital markets at the Informal Ecofin meetings of EU finance ministers and central bank governors, to working directly with the UK government on pensions and capital markets reform, and producing the annual review of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter and shaping its progress.

We think we have been punching above our weight for the past decade.  We are immensely proud of the body of work that New Financial has produced and of the influence that it has had on government, regulation, and the industry.

Getting involved in our research & events

At the heart of our work is an emphasis on data and analysis presented in a clear, accessible, and impartial way. We all know that European capital markets are less developed than in the US, that women and people from diverse backgrounds are under-represented in banking and finance, and that UK pension funds have reduced their allocation to UK equities. But in each of these cases (and many others) there is no consistent data and the debate is often anecdotal. Building and analysing robust datasets is hard work, but it has earned us the right to participate in the debate on the future of capital markets and on diversity at the highest level.

New Financial is a social enterprise funded by institutional membership from across the capital markets industry. We are not a charity and receive no public money or research grants, and we are not a profit maximisation exercise. We have a growing network of more than 40 members firms and supporters who are closely engaged in our events and research across our capital markets and diversity programme.
